ok. i’m posting this. but only cause the cracker of the year told me to.
i’ve never even seen that movie the whole way through.
as usual, i was listening to some derek webb today. and this line
i repent of judging by a law that even i can’t keep
wearin righteousness like a disguise to see through
the planks in my own eyes
made me stop and think.
and i thought
and about mercy.
so then i got home and read
about judgment and about mercy.
” Do not judge so that you will not be judged.
For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you.
Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?
Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ and behold, the log is in your own eye?
You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye. “
following the story of the good Samaritan in Luke 10…
“Which of these three do you think proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell into the robbers’ hands?”
And he said, “The one who showed mercy toward him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do the same.”
“So speak and so act as those who are to be judged by the law of liberty.
For judgment will be merciless to one who has shown no mercy; mercy triumphs over judgment. “
and i wonder
what does it really mean to judge?
what is the difference between judgment and condemnation?
and shouldn’t all of this affect the way the church views and reacts to world?
how have i become so blind to the logs in my eyes?
and i think i’ve forgotten the greatness of my sin.
and the greatness of my savior.
